Overview

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with the university.

Direct Support Professional provide Personal Assistance Services to a person with a disability to enable him or her to accomplish tasks that the person normally would do for himself or herself, if he or she did not have a disability. These include hands-on assistance; reminding, observing, guiding or training. 

This client requires staff that can perform Personal Assistance Services in the family home. The required Personal Assistance Services to be done with this client include doing activities of daily living such as: bathing, grooming, assistance with feeding, sensory activities and other required care for example assisting family members with mobility transfers into wheelchair to access other areas in home and community or provide respite to caregiver. 
The client has daily goals staff will do with client such as:

  • reading to client.
  • using assistive technology or leisure activities to enhance doing the client learning, communication and leisure skills. 
  • Must be able to complete paperwork for State required notes and guardian.
