Overview

Work with faculty and leadership to ensure the teaching Gross Anatomy Lab and Morgue have supplies needed for the medical students. Lab surfaces, cadaver storage containers, dissecting tools, and surgical trays are cleaned weekly; fluids made available for cadavers moved to the lab from the teaching morgue. Maintain inventory control and locations of cadavers at all time utilizing standard patient identification including cadaver ID tags, database, and class assignments. Ensure proper storage of cadavers and gross specimens are maintained according to University and OSHA protocols. Perform proper disposal of hazardous waste including human tissues and fluids and soiled linens. Coordinate the transportation of cadavers with various teaching labs within the University and service contractor. Respond to emergent or regular needs through UK Hazardous Waste and PPD. Consult with course faculty and program director for cadaver placement and any other lab needs.
