Overview
The GIS Technician will serve in a variety of technical roles supporting the Geotechnical service area and ITS – Information Services as a whole. While serving in these roles the GIS Technician can rely on senior level support to complete the assigned tasks.
Tasks will span many different skills sets including but not limited to data collection, entry, processing, and report creation using the appropriate software for the task. Experience with GIS map production is required. Preferred skills involve one or more of the following : AutoCAD, ArcGIS online products, Civil Engineering practices and standards using GNSS equipment; Utilities locating; Ground Penetrating Radar operation, and experience with lean processes using the Toyota Production System concepts.
This position will work 40 hours per week depending on departmental schedules and needs with overtime scheduled as-needed. The GIS Technician will need to maintain availability during pre-scheduled times to support the operations of the area, and will support all projects to meet department deadlines.
