Overview

The Patient Care Manager Assistant is responsible for supporting the work and leadership of the Patient Care Managers of GS 7Main and GS 4 West in all aspects of operations. This includes assisting the Patient Care Manager in direct observation of staff, completing Performance Evaluations, and addressing any specific customer service issues that may arise. This position also requires the ability to function effectively in stressful situations, skill in IPR, group dynamics, problem solving, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching. This position will support the Patient Care Manager to develop nursing staff at all levels so that exemplary patient care is given, accreditation standards are met and patient satisfaction is high. He/She will provide supervision, coaching, mentoring and opportunities for growth to nursing staff and assist in the day to day management of the nursing unit(s). The A-PCM assists with scheduling, payroll management, monitoring of staff competencies, evaluation of staff performance, and special projects as assigned by the PCM. He/she will serve as the manager for clerical staff as appropriate on the assigned unit(s). Increased supervision and staff coaching/mentoring is associated with decreased staff turnover and improved patient outcomes
