The CNA Training program is quick, thorough, current, and relevant with an experience that offers you great understanding and the ability to get into the healthcare field in just a couple of months!

What is a CNA?
A CNA assists patients with daily activities, maintains patient hygiene and serves a vital role on the healthcare team!
What does a CNA do?
As a CNA you have the ability to impact lives in a way you never thought possible. It is a privilege and an honor to care for the sick and elderly in our community. The opportunities for growth and development are endless when you obtain a CNA certificate and join the MaineGeneral Health family!
What will I learn with this training?
Assist in a broad range of areas including infection control, safety, and emergency procedures
Document patient care services and report observations to nursing staff
Assist doctors and nurses in diagnostic procedures and therapeutic treatments
Develop communication and interpersonal skills
How long is the program?
1 eight hour paid class per week (Thursday 7:30a-3p)
70 hours of clinical instruction (including both 8 & 12 hour paid shifts)
32-40 hours per week including class schedule (Schedule options 7a-3p OR 11a-7p)
At least one weekend day per week
On average 3-5 hours of study time outside of normal work hours
What are the program requirements?
High school diploma or equivalent required
Dependable attendance for classes, clinical, & scheduled shifts required
Upon completion of the program and successful passing of the state exam, students will be registered as a Certified Nurses Aid!
**Once certified as a CNA, a 1 year commitment to MaineGeneral Long Term Care (32 hour – 36 hour per week) is expected**
