Job Summary:
Do you want to work with a high performing team in our state of the art, climate controlled facility making a difference in your community? The Laundry Technician touches every patient, family, and staff member by providing them with fresh linens on a daily basis. Working as a team the Laundry technicians are responsible for the operation of laundry equipment for the purpose of processing and distribution of all hospital associated linens in accordance with hospital-wide infection control, safety and departmental policies and procedures. If you are looking for truly meaningful work and like to stay busy, this is the job for you.

We are currently accepting applications for full time and per diem positions.

The ideal candidate will have:
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
1 year or more prior experience
Must be team oriented, self-directed and have strong verbal and oral communication skills

Job Description:

Empties soiled linen from bags and sorts into like type containers to be loaded in to washers.
Loads and unloads industrial sized washing machines.
Unloads washers and separates items for further processing.
Sorts wet linen, stacks,  and separates linen from the flatwork ironer.
Folds and feeds Johnnies and towels into small piece folder.
Feeds large sheets, contours, pillowcases and uniforms into flatwork ironer 
Loads and unloads dryers.
Hand Folds and separates marked clean linen.
Counts and loads clean, folded linen, into various carts which are distributed throughout the MaineGeneral Organization.
Places extra clean linen on shelves or carts insuring availability.
Inspects linen for wear, tears or stains.
Reports linen supply shortages or equipment problems to Supervisor.
 Maintains clean work area; participates in clean up at shift end.
