Overview

Conduct and modify laboratory research protocols in biological science disciplines in the areas of neuroscience, inflammation, and disordered proteins. Adapt protocols and procedures for laboratory analyses. Use instruments and practical knowledge to interpret results.

Perform surgery on animals for experimental purposes including pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative procedures. Perform and modify laboratory test on biological materials using methods such as mammalian cell cultures, electrophoresis of proteins and nucleotide samples, bacterial transformation and growth. Perform western blotting, immunohistochemistry, cytochemistry.

Must have knowledge of cloning and plasmid preparation. Maintain logs and records of laboratory techniques, observations, findings and results. Perform analysis of data using statistical software. Perform literature searches for appropriate laboratory techniques.
