Heroes work here! MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity to work at Gardiner Family Medicine as a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist. This role is great for someone that has a passion for Phlebotomy and enjoys being part of a team that is dedicated to providing great care to our patients.
Lab Assistants perform routine and specialized blood drawing from patients to obtain specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. An ideal candidate will be proficient in phlebotomy or recently completed a phlebotomy course, have knowledge of specimen requirements and handling, and has great customer service skills.
This is a full time position.

The ideal candidate will have:
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
A desire to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task
Has Phlebotomy experience or has completed a phlebotomy program
Has a passion for providing great care
Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
Orders, receives, accessions, and tracks specimens in the department’s information system(s). Verifies
accuracy of collected specimens against orders and performs waived testing, as required.
Prepares specimens for testing or shipment to internal/external laboratory. Disposes of specimens according to policies and procedures.
Performs clerical duties including maintaining supplies and equipment.
